28th Tropical Medicine Excursion to Uganda, East Africa is organized by Kay Schaefer (MD, Ph.D., MSc, DTM&H), Cologne, Germany, and it is scheduled to hold from 16th - 26 Nov 2025.
TROPMEDEX is a medical excursion that aims to host at least 20 healthcare professionals who wish to improve their skills in tropical medicine in Uganda.
The itinerary for the event includes; Entebbe, Kampala, Jinja, Kampala, Mbarara, Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP), Fort Portal, Kampala, and Entebbe.
With an experienced English-speaking driver, using a comfortable 4×4 bus, participants travel on tarmac- and Maram roads (approx. 1400 km).
Tropical medicine experts will be having discussion sessions with other medical practitioners in different sections like teaching, laboratory, and hospitals; they will also give lectures on tropical medicine, and traveler’s health in various hospitals and research institutions.
The panel session will cover many topics like epidemiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and control of the most important tropical infectious diseases.
It will create a platform for the participant to explore the local healthcare systems during the excursion; each of the excursions is accredited with 60 CME by the Medical Association in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The highlight of the excursion will also cover many topics such as schistosomiasis, lymphatic filariasis, onchocerciasis, malaria, and ultrasound diagnosis for tropical infectious diseases and medical botany.
