PRE-NURSERY

This section takes charge of nurturing children from the ages of 12 months . A qualified staff nurse midwife is permanently on call with a team of nurse attendants to provide adequate care and immediate individual attention. The little ones are introduced to the creative concepts of colour and sound with special toys and music.


NURSERY

Children from the ages of 24 months are catered for in this section. There are three grades of nursery classes. The �learning by playing � method is used here until the child is at least 5 years old and ready to transit to the primary section. The teachers here are a mix of young ladies and mums with young children to provide the right mix of energy, care and warmth that children in this age group require to develop . The school also has specially trained staff to begin to evaluate each child for any special needs or learning disabilities so they can be identified and followed up with immediately and appropriately.

PRIMARY

Young kids from the ages of 5 years old are prepared for regular schooling. Qualified Primary teachers introduce to them the basic concepts of Mathematics , English and literacy, Foreign Languages and the environment. Fun games to boost confidence, and team play are also introduced progressively as the child develops . Other subjects like Logical Reasoning , Social Sciences, Music, Arts and Computer Studies are also introduced , in readiness for secondary education.

SECONDARY

The junior school admits pupils from different primary schools irrespective of background , ethnicity, religion and sex. The school enjoys a good mix of foreign and indigenous students and staff , which provided a really multicultural environment that fosters understanding and tolerance .The curriculum offered is far wider than that which is suggested. In addition, the more traditional subjects, other subjects like Latin , French, Personality Education, Music, Fine Arts, Literature , Introductory Technology, computer studies are also offered and are compulsory for all junior secondary students. The aim is to expose them to a wide range of options to give the students a broad based understanding of varied concepts , as well aiding each student to discover his or her narrowed down personal strengths and interests , in preparation for a more specialised senior secondary curriculum. Each child then sits for the national Junior secondary school examination . Brainfield Junior secondary school has achieved a consistent ninety percent ( 90%) pass rate for this examination.

All successful junior secondary students are graduated into the senior school . Here , students are encouraged to pay greater attention to subjects required for university entrance examinations. However Brainfield upholds the concepts of a liberal arts education and as such students still take a compulsory literature course, irrespective of their chosen career path , to benefit from tits literary and philosophical content.All other traditional Sciences, Arts , social science and Technology courses are offered and instructed by fully qualified teachers with many years of experience in preparing young adults for university. We have a good number of students who wish to study for an undergraduate degree in British universities. We therefore offer special preparation for the Cambridge School Leaving Examinations. Brainfield Students do exceptionally well in both national and international examinations and is evident in the numbers of our students who are admitted into good universities every academic year
