Ayamelum LGA is sited in the town of Anaku, and amongst the existing 21 LGAs in the state and the LG council consits of the towns of Anaku, Omor, Omasi, Igbakwu, Umueje, Umumbo, Ifite Ogwari, and Umuerum.

Awka South LGA is at Awka Town and counts as one of the 21 existing LGAs of the state comprising the towns of Amawbia, Ifite-Akwa, Ezinato, Ishiagu, Mbaukwu, Nibo, Nise, Okpuno, Umuawulu, under its administration.
